Ten Commandments of Karaoke
1. Thou shall not walk in front of the monitor when someone is singing. It is extremely distracting and very rude. Dancing is
permitted while the singers is singing but be aware of where you are so you do not bump the equipment or interrupt the
singer. Dancing complements, the singer...so get on down and Boogie!
2. Thou shall always applaud for every singer. It doesn't matter how good or bad you think they are we all need
encouragement. When you are up there singing, you want to hear that applause for you? Besides, we are here to have
fun!
3. Thou shall not join in with a singer unless you are invited. Don't put them on the spot by asking them while they are
singing. Also, don't sing along louder than the performer. Respect the singer.
4. Thou shall not drink to the point of total intoxication if you are planning to perform. You may be removed from the
rotation to save you from embarrassment and to protect the equipment. Besides no one wants to listen to a drunk slur their
way through a favorite song.
5. Thou shall not jeer, heckle, boo, harass or otherwise interrupt the singer. We are all here to have fun.
6. Thou shall not Cuss or make lewd comments while using the microphone, unless it is part of the song you are singing.
Song selection is at the discretion of the KJ as there are times when we have children present.
7. Thou shall treat the microphone and all the equipment with respect. The equipment is very expensive. We provide the
best sounding system for our singers, so please don’t tap or bang on the microphone as this could damage the sensitive
element. If you have trouble putting the microphone back into its holder, just hand it to your KJ and let them take care of it.
8. Thou shall not gripe if someone else sings a song you like to sing. After all, you don't own exclusive rights to the song.
The KJ will change the order of your songs or replace it with another choice at your request. This should be the only
reason for changing the order or replacing your songs.
9. Thou shall not ask the KJ if they have a certain song. We provide songbooks for you to pick from the songs we do
have. The songbooks have listings by both Title and Artist.
10. Thou shall present your requests on our slips and in the order you wish to sing them. We do not limit how many slips
you can give us, but remember you may not get to sing all of them. The rotation is established in the order we receive your
requests. New singers are added at the end of the rotation. There will be no change to the rotation as this is not fair to the
other singers so don't ask.
Above all, thou shall have fun! This is an extremely fun and very addicting recreation. It is also a good way to meet people
who love to sing as much as you do. Always keep that laid back attitude and a big smile on your face when you hang out at
karaoke shows. Love and respect others. Don't pass around negative rumors...unless they are true! Keep everything
positive, upbeat and fun! Welcome, all newcomers with open arms, show them how to submit their requests and never let

find another version of your song or at times ask you to
pick another song.

with our system we are able to make our music and
your singing sound its best. We chose to carry all this
equipment so that we can put on a better show for your
